The thing about Bastille creator/frontman Dan Smith is that he and I have similar obsessions; music and film. It’s clear from the video of Pompeii that he has clear styles that he likes too. Having found an interest in horror films from a young age Dan went on to enjoy European cinema, later moving on to David Lynch (of course we all knew about that since his track Laura Palmer is inspired by Lynch’s murder mystery Twin Peaks).
The video for Pompeii has been created with Dan’s vision having been inspired by the novel I Am Legend as if having been directed by the director of Drive (Nicholas Winding Refn).
Bastille will release their début album Bad Blood on March 4th 2013 having spent time creating each track as a tale that could in fact have its own mini epic film if Dan Smith should so wish to make it so. The single Pompeii is out on February 25th.
