Festival Update: Leeds – The Big Preview
Leeds 2014
Last year’s Leeds festival was a bundle of laughs despite trudging through what can only be described as mud soup and with a split welly. The weather didn’t put too much of a dampener on things though and this year we’ve decided to go it again, come rain or shine. The only difference is that this year we’re officially there on business…. press business. Very important shizzle.
So before anyone heads there here’s our Soundcloud round up of who we reckon is going to be great to see at this year’s festival plus some videos of our must see acts for each day.
THURSDAY
Sadly we won’t be there on Thursday but we’d love you to go and check out pretty much all of the acts on the BBC Introducing Stage but especially Honeyblood!
Honeyblood – We’ve been loving these for a while now but never managed to catch them live so we’ll be heading straight for the BBC Introducing stage to make sure we do see them this time around!
Watch Bud by Honeyblood:
FRIDAY
The Wytches – Head on over to the NME/R1 Stage to catch these grumgy beasts who are first on. Having seen them live already this year I know you’re in for a treat. I last described them as making me want to dance an angry tango – ole!
Watch Gravedweller by The Wytches:
Saint Raymond – We love St R and no festival should be without him and Leeds isn’t. Head on over to the Festival Republic stage and make sure you check him out if you haven’t seen him before.
Watch Ghosts (live at Dot to Dot 2014) by Saint Raymond:
SATURDAY
Southern – I’ve been loving everything I’ve heard by Southern (you will have noticed all the posts if you’re a Popped regular) and a chance to see them play Leeds fest won’t be passing us by.
Watch The Way You Breathe by Southern:
Lizzo – I haven’t seen Lizzo live – yet- I will be if my cohort has anything to say about it and this is her “must see” act on Saturday! I guess we shall soon know if I agree with her or not seeing as it’s not a usual Popped Music kind of genre.
Watch Bus Passes and Happy Meals by Lizzo:
SUNDAY
Royal Blood – These guys are making pretty huge rowdy waves this year and having caught part of their set at something or another on TV a while back they went straight to my must see.
Watch Little Monster by Royal Blood here:
Hozier – In total musical contrast to Royal Blood every Sunday needs a bit of something more chilled out and being it a Sunday Hozier will no doubt perform his wonderful new track Take Me To Church.
