Festival Preview: Threshold 2015 – Saturday
Threshold V
27th-29th March 2015
Having attended Liverpool’s Threshold Festival in 2014 it was immediately a priority on the Popped Music festival calendar for 2015. This year’s festival is set once again in Liverpool’s creative hub of the Baltic Triangle and will feature and celebrate the best of grassroots and beyond in areas such as music, art and also performance. There will be unusual venues as well as secret pop up happenings across the three day festival.
Because the festival is so exciting for us this year we’re running a preview on each day so that we can give a little more focus on a few acts.
Tickets are on sale now £20 for a full weekend or £12 for a day ticket, clickity click here.

SATURDAY
VYNCE – Constellations
With rhythms that are reminiscent of the math rock from the likes of Foals I jumped on VYNCE as ones to watch at Threshold as soon as I checked them out. They’ve been playing gigs a plenty around the NW of late so you may well have already seen them, unlike us.

Broken Men – Constellations
It’s shocking to say that it took almost a year for us to get around to watching Broken Men play. Not only shocking but a real shame because they are totally amazing. There’s not one element from the bass to the brass that doesn’t work. Watching them live there’s a real energy about them that you’ll not want to miss out on. We’ll want to be at every gig from now on.

Colour – Unit 51
We started off the year at Colour’s single launch show at Blade Factory and what a way to start the year it was. This relatively new band to the scene already command the attention of the audience with their live set. Plus they were named one of BBC Introducing’s new acts of the year in 2014 so you know you can’t go wrong seeing these guys.

SeaWitches – Unit 51
SeaWitches have been together for a few years now peddling their psychedelic shoegaze. Their recent single Stars has had us in a bit of a tiz since we first got hooked on it. It’s easily those melodious guitar riffs and unguarded vocals that did it.

Natalie McCool – Secret Location
We’ve become slightly obsessed with Natalie McCool’s most recent track Pins. We’ve been digging her sounds for the best part of a year or more but there’s something in that one that resonates so well. It goes without saying we’ll probably be found stage front and centre for this show – when we find out where the devil it is!

Etches – Secret Location
Another secret location act for this year’s Threshold festival are Etches. A band we saw lots of upon our return to Liverpool last year. We don’t go back unless we love what we hear so you can bet your bottom dollar you’ll find us watching Etches at the Drop The Dime event. See you there?
