Festival Preview: Threshold 2015 – Weekend

thresholdThreshold V

threshold v full poster27th – 29th March 2015

You may have noticed we’ve already covered a preview on each individual day of this year’s Threshold Festival, Threshold V (it’s its 5th year don’t you know?). But we felt it wasn’t quite right not to give you even more info as this festival isn’t just put on by the Threshold team. It’s a collaborative approach with many other people involved in curating the music stages and events, including Wirral based festivals Astral Coast and Farm Feast, Liverpool promoters Liverpool Acoustic, Mellowtone and Dove Dale Social, immersive arts and music funsters INKbeat, local label Antipop Records, and many more!

The venues for Threshold V are spread out across the Baltic Triangle area of the City. That’s the area that is situated on the ..ahem.. threshold of the city centre. It is here where you can catch a multitude of music, art and performance anywhere from Liverpool Craft Bear Co’s soon to be new warehouse, to outside at Constellations and  inside at The Observatory, to Unit 51, 24 Kitchen Street and The Baltic Social, to name but a few of the spaces and venues being used over the weekend.

threshold drop the dimeThere’s also going to be a special secret happening on Saturday with Drop The Dime (in partnership with No-Wave and Saljam Presents) – a show featuring extra exciting collaborations between Natalie McCool with both Silent Cities and D R H O N E as well as live sets from LUNA and Etches. No one knows where the venue is (OK so we might do but no way are we spilling!).  You’ll need to find a a dime from a telephone box on Jamaica St with clues on how to find the venue and then when you get there you’ll enter the venue via another telephone box – it’s all sounding just so exiting and that’s before the acts get going!

threshold evolition of the grooveAnother event worth us mentioning is the inspirational idea of Evolution Of The Groove, thanks to Threshold, GV Mag and Firehouse. Spread over all three days, music lovers can hear DJs spin sounds from Disco right the way through to Funk and Soul with a dollop of World Music, Hip Hop and Techno and a whole host of other grooves that come in between.

It’s not just music though. Throughout the Threshold Festival weekend you can watch performance art in the Lantern Theatre, look at art instillations and, if I’m hearing right, then you can even catch a bit of burlesque, as well as take your own performance ideas to the floor. Plus if you’re into your arts markets then get along to Capstan’s Bazaar on the Sunday at Constellations. That’s where you’ll find Arts and Crafts / Local produce, including bread, cakes, cheeses and teas / Vintage clothes, textiles and home wares / Handmade goods: soaps, candles, jewellery and furnishings / Second hand vinyl, books and furniture.
