Manchester, the, seemingly, beating heart of new music in the NW. With the amount of festivals all clambering to host there this year says it all. A Carefully Planned is not a new festival to Manchester, no, it’s a trend-setter, it’s in it’s 6th year and has proven year on year that it’s capable of picking an eclectic mix of acts super early on in their career and helping in creating a buzz around them.

A Carefully Planned 6 for 2016 will no doubt continue in this vein and the lineup is causing us some problems making any top picks, but here goes nothing.

OUR PICKS

Bruja

Barnsley’s three piece Bruja (Spanish for Witch) have been on my list to see in 2016 and I’ve still not yet managed it. Their debut EP showcased a comfortable depth of grunge-tinged pop with dirty girtar swirls and and angsts vocals.

Tusks

Having Tusks on the line up, to me,  is quite the coup. Delicate yet powerful, One Little Indian signing Tusks will take you on a sweet, ethereal and divinely atmospheric journey, just make sure you wake up at the end of it to catch some other bands!

HER’s

HER’s are Liverpool based duo Stephen Fitzpatrick and Audun Laading, neither of them are from the NW but their talents combine to create a sound that is arguably Northern in influence. This is far from your average pop duo.
