EP Review: Talk Show – These People
Talk Show
These People
Words by Amy Butcher
As a lover of all things live music, I tend to decide if I love a band when seeing them perform live rather than listening to their latest single. This was the case when I first discovered Talk Show supporting Spector last November. They have made a name for themselves through their live performance, and for me have become one of my favourite bands to go see. Having rinsed through their music catalogue afterwards, you can imagine I was excited to get my ears around their new EP These People.
Opening with recent single Stress, you’re engulfed in ferocious bass lines, brash drum patterns and Harrison’s infamous vocals; setting the pace for what’s to come. Whether it’s the intoxicating melodies in Atomica leaving me wanting to hit the repeat button over and over again, or how Banshee builds into a euphoric blend of jangly guitar, fast drum beats and subtle yet impactful bass lines; the end result is just brilliant. Petrolhead closes this EP leaving no prisoners behind with the gritty bite in the sound and the vigorous intensity of the melodies.
Talk Show have pulled it out of the bag with These People, showcasing the vast spectrum of their sound and I look forward to seeing what else they do!
