FESTIVAL PREVIEW: VICTORIOUS FESTIVAL 2022
Victorious Festival 2022
Southsea Seafront, Portsmouth, 26-28 August 2022
Words: Amy Butcher
Located down south on the seafront, if there’s any festival to get you into the summer spirit it’s Victorious Festival. Running now for over 10 years, the 3 day festival welcomes the likes of Self Esteem, White Lies, Dodie, Sports Team and more to the sunny Southsea. Rounding out the days with stunning headliners Stereophonics, Paolo Nutini & Sam Fender, you’re in for a great weekend!
With a cracking line up to choose from over the weekend, I’ve pulled together some recommendations for you to check out…
Ones To Watch
Swim Deep
An indie pop band hailing from Birmingham, Swim Deep are set to bring their bright, colourful sound to the festivities. Having first heard of them 10 years ago when they released Honey, though never seeing them live, I’m really looking forward to see what they bring to Victorious Festival next weekend. If there’s one band who sum up that summer feeling, it’s Swim Deep!
Coach Party
Only coming onto my radar in the last month, Coach Party had to be one of my picks for Victorious Festival. Their infectious melodies and punchy sound are a force to be reckoned with when live in a festival setting. The Isle of Wight band own the stage and you feel the passion and drive in their performance – what a treat for Portsmouth!
Alfie Templeman
With his debut album Mellow Moon released recently, Alfie Templeman is really making festival season his own, and having already made some killer appearances, it’s no surprise he’s on Victorious Festival‘s bill. The singer-songwriter transports you into an idyllic world of his own making with the glittering sounds and wonderous melodies, and Alfie will for sure be a highlight for a lot of people during the festival weekend.
Editors
Another Birmingham band on our top picks, Editors are going to tear up the stage at Victorious Festival this weekend. With a string of festivals this summer and their newest album EBM release in September, I can’t wait to hear them bring their classic and new ferocious rock melodies to Southsea; if you’re going you’ll be in for a right treat!
The Reytons
Indie rock sensation The Reytons are blessing Southsea with their South Yorkshire grooves over the bank holiday weekend. Having continuously made their mark on the music scene, it seems like the world is their oyster; commenting earnestly on real life experiences in their music, they pull together a fantastically addictive sound. It’s sure to be a set to remember at Victorious Festival!
