Single Review: Miles Kane – Inhaler
Inhaler
Released 11th July
Liverpool has always been a city steeped in musical history as it was the birth place of The Beatles. Sometimes I think that the pressure put on other musicians from the city must be immense but rather than decide against doing nothing because they could never compete, the city’s musicians seem to take this information and their heritage and use it to their advantage. Miles Kane has been around for a while now working on various projects such as The Little Flames, The Rascals and of course The Last Shadow Puppets. Miles Kane originally released Inhaler as his debut single back in 2010 and following the release of his debut Album, Colour Of The Trap, he’s giving it another whirl, and why not it deserves it.
The retro sound is very popular at the moment; using a mixture of 60s, 70s and 80s sounds and references has been at the height of popularity over the last few years. Inhaler follows in this trend using a very heavy 60s influence in the production and the sound. The track is fierce and fast paced and the vocal has a real sense of attitude, there’s no doubt it. Even the background harmonies add a sense of drama to the track it’s become a popular track down at the indie disco and in Miles’ live set any night of the week. We might even have to turn our office into a disco next time we put this on!
