Single Review: The Vaccines – Norgaard
Norgaard
Released 21st August 2011
The Vaccines might just have the antidote to the lack of our British Summer. They bring forward their social commentary style and another single with a focus on sex. This is going to make you sing along and jump around and have so much fun that you’ll forget that outside it’s peeing down, either that or you just won’t care. Follow it by The Drums’ latest offering Money and you’ll not know what to do with yourself.
The fast paced guitars and singing style of this track is what makes it one of my favourite releases from The Vaccines. I mean I liked the single Post Break Up Sex and can see why it gained the band fans but this one is the one for me. It’s hectic and energetic and is a great choice for following on from their last single All In White, which had quite a dark tone to it musically. Norgarrd has a much lighter feel to it; lots of fun. It is even a tiny bit reminiscent of something you might expect from Vampire Weekend, though perhaps not quite as overly upbeat. This still has The Vaccine’s rockier side present in the guitar work. Either way it’s up there with one of the most addictive singles I’ve heard in the past few months. I literally can’t stop watching the video, you’ve got to love that repeat button!
