Single Review: Sound Of Arrows – Magic

Magic

Released 25th July 2011

Sound Of Arrow’s release their single Magic and you would expect it to have something magical about it somehow, but it kind of doesn’t. It is lacking a little bit in that bit of spark. It’s got some kids chanting which is kind of sweet I guess and the track is quite haunting in parts but nothing really screams magic.

I’m also not a huge fan of having large parts of song lyrics spelled out. Unless of course it’s D.A.N.C.E by Justice. I’m at a bit of a loss on what to say about this single to be honest. I’ve only been privy to the video, which has 2 Spanish children talking on and off all the way through it, so I’ve no idea if this is part of the actual single or not! I kind of hope not and I’d kind of like to listen to it without hearing them as it is a little distracting.

All in all it’s an OK single, it doesn’t make me want to dance, or to even tap my foot, it doesn’t generate any kind of emotional response and sadly it doesn’t make me want to go and explore the band further. Though no doubt I will just to see what else they’ve done before,  for comparison’s sake at least.

I think the word “Meh” sums it up.
