Single Review: Young Knives – Vision In Rags
Vision In Rags
Released 12th September 2011
Hello and welcome to the We Love Young Knives Page. Not really, well, OK maybe, a little bit. I don’t think there’s been anything that they have ever released as a single that I’ve not been keen on, or in fact danced myself silly too and this one is another. Though, this is a little different. Hello sleazy dirty bass I’ve not really noticed you before in a Young Knives single. Also hello very interesting very mild electro sounds and very awesome percussion!
What’s really nice about this single in particular is the way that for such a short song, 3 mins 29 if you must know, there are so many different elements from the sounds to the harmonies. The track feels as though it’s split into two halves almost. The chorus is very Young Knives, very catchy but the difference seems to be that this has something a little darker behind it. Also has any one else noticed how the last few singles from the last few albums have seen a gentler singing style, less aggressive and shouty than the likes of the earlier stuff. Even Terra Firma has a bit of a cross between the two and now they seem to have dropped that a little. I’m not complaining at all, I love it all, shouty, bleepy, non bleepy, funny lyrics, talking in parts, harmonies. It’s all good when it comes to The Young Knives, and this is simply no exception.
