Single Review: Blood Red Shoes – Cold

Cold

Released 19th March 2012

Now this, this is how it’s done. Cold is the single of choice to be taken from the forthcoming Blood Red Shoes album, In Time To Voices, the duo’s 4th album in as many years. The production on Cold doesn’t make the track feel wishy washy, it brings the best bits to the forefront, just as good production should do. The drums are punchy as hell and drives the track forward with the guitar as its equally racy sidekick. The melody for the vocals is gripping enough without being cheesy or overly sweet. The guitar rips across everything and not only that but the lead vocal is slurred and sultry and dare I say it even a little sexy? The male vocal is powerful without taking over and has a nice grainy timbre totally befitting of the over all sound.

This track feels fresh enough whilst the blood Red Shoes sound remains solid and in keeping with their past so I can imagine fans will be pretty happy with this one too.
