Single Review – Poppy & The Jezebels – Sign In, Dream On, Drop Out

Sign In, Dream On, Drop Out

Released on May 21st 2012

Well despite us being called Popped Music, we don’t really cover things that are overly poppy in sound, however, on this occasion we’re bending our own rules because there is something here we quite like and we all need a little bit of pop in our lives now and then!

Poppy & The Jezebels have a sound that reminds me of some of the indie bands that were around in the mid 90s, there’s something almost a little St Etienne about them, something a little Bis, too cheery to be like Sleeper, perhaps a little too sweet to be like Lush but certainly they seem to be as much fun as Lauren Laverne’s old band Kenikie. With this in mind I couldn’t help but have a little dance around and reminisce.

Whilst getting carried away dancing I almost forget what it is I’m supposed to be doing and am rudely awaken by the disappointing end to the track, mid move I was when the track just died. I’d signed in, I was dreaming on and they kicked me right out. Not a track that will necessarily grab the bull by the horns so to speak but could easily enough be a huge Summer track (should Summer ever arrive). Enjoy your Sunday with an extra slice of pop on us;
