Single Review: Lungs – Faraway

Faraway

Lungs farawayReleased July 29th 2013

If you know the background behind this band then you might already be expecting something Guillemotsesque as Guillemots guitarist MC Lord Magrao is at the head of this new band Lungs. You see that’s the thing about band members popping off here there and everywhere, they can never quite leave behind their previous sound but equally they can play around with something new and I would say this really is a mix of the two.

Vocalist Suzie Blake does a wonderful job in making sure we forget the past projects, her vocals on Faraway haunting and intoxicating; they bend and meld themselves in and around and  the gritty and reasonably passed drum and bass. Vocally she sit’s perfectly alongside the almost expected swirling ethereal guitar and the pair together pull back on the pace.

Faraway great first track to introduce themselves with, Faraway is the first song from  the bands debut double A side Single Faraway/Loner, which is released on limited edition 7″ vinyl (250 on black vinyl, 250 on white vinyl) on July 29th through Hero Records.
