When you think of the Liverpool music scene, it is only naturally that you think of guitar bands and cosmic weirdos. One man is changing that though. The most exciting young soul singer in the country, Xam Volo, is a major part thanks to LIPA. Xam’s latest release is the thoroughly excellent Down. Although the video includes a 34 second tease until the song kicks in properly, as soon as it does it becomes all about Volo’s cool, sensual vocal taking control over some very hip lounge band electronica. As he calls out “yes” in the track, you feel the desire to sing along with him. Throughout this track you can feel the presence of Xam Volo and his effortless cool. In fact, this track is the definition of it.
