As you might suspect from the band’s name and their debut offering Cocaine Girls, this isn’t a folk girl duo, nor are they a straight up punk riot grrl act either. Rather a murky-pop sound with a hint of rock band, 80s synth and a huge dollop of unapologetic punk attitude. The video, a montage of girls battering the shit out of each other in every sport possible, I think I even spotted synchronized swimming? There’s no political statement, no happy happy lyrics, but the vibe in Cocaine Girls is surprisingly snappy and I’m not sure when exactly it’s going to be leaving my mind, some might say it’s a bit addictive.
