Just Listen: Communions – Come On, I’m Waiting

Communions

Words: Gary Lambert

communionsCome On, I’m Waiting starts quick as a flash with the vocal work of this Danish quartet, Communions, coming in after half a second. There is no room for an intro when a three minute song is this full of pop licks and slick beats. The tune provides a warm welcome for the listener which takes you back to the days of Scandinavian bands being a regular fixture in the British charts and hearts. From the accent-free vocal and the slightly scuzzy guitar riff that pops up through the song regularly this does feel a bit of a musical old friend like you had heard it before but forgotten it. This is not the type of song that makes you want to pick up a guitar in a second hand shop and start a band, but it is a song that will make you smile and dance. And really what more do you want most of the time?
