This is yet another of Liverpool’s award winning music festivals and a firm favourite in many a gig goer and music lover’s diary. This year the festival reaches a milestone of it’s 15th birthday, and with it brings a strong a line up as always – with the festival’s ever focus on the less mainstream side of music. That is to say – it’s more likely to be up the street of your 6 music loving music fan, spanning across all kinds of genres, than your capitol radio drive time music fan. The other thing that appeals to us about it – it’s music taste aside, is it’s ability to always bring us some of our favourite up and coming bands. This year again working with DIY to bring just a few of their favourite new bands to play.
DIY Presents: The Breakout Stage this year is being held at one of our very own gig host venues – the wonderful EBGBs. It’s here you’ll probably be most likely to find us this year to be honest – if not sneaking off to The Magnet and Arts Club – mainly for Dan Croll.
There will also be the amazing closing party on 4th of November bringing the stunning Zola Jesus, Everything Everything and She Drew The Gun with a whole host of new talent from across the NW such as Rongo Rongo, VEYU, Trudy & The Romance and The Orrielles plus way more. It’s in conjunction with Get Into This – so you know the bands will be sound as.
Our Gig Picks:
Childhood – The Magnet – 1st November 2017
This band are playing Liverpool Music Week in addition to their mini UK tour so it’s a great nab. The band’s single Don’t Have Me Back has been one of my biggest sing along tunes all year – see you front and centre for the sing-along in person yeah?

Girl Ray – EBGBS – 30th October
Absolutely adored this band the first time I saw them live and then with every listen of their debut album, Earl Grey, this was one of the first shows that I got really excietd about for being in EBGBS. It’s a great space for them and this will be an absolute treat!
There is also fabulous support from Sugarmen, Gintis and Disastronouts (who I’ve seen many a time and always give a great show!)

Japanese Breakfast – EBGBS – 31st October
This might be one of my favourite full line ups of Liverpool Music Week – with the local supports possibly grabbing more of my attention than the headliner. That being said though I’ve yet to see Japanese Breakfast live so this will be that opportunity I’ve been waiting for. Support comes from St Jude The Obscure, Mary Miller and Bill Nixon – check them all out too!

Queen Zee & The Sasstones – EBGBS – 3rd November
This band are absolutely killing it all over the place right now – taking their rightful place on the bbc introducing stage at both Reading and Leeds festival and many a stage since. This will be a brilliant heavy, sweaty, basement party.
Support at this show comes from the heady punkability of Salt The Snail, Forever In Debt and Dead Houses.
