Just Listen: Voodoos – Turn Me Into Juice

Turn Me Into Juice

Words: Gary Feeney

It’s not every band that emerges in to the world as a fully-formed hit machine, but on the evidence to date, that’s exactly what Voodoos have done – despite only around 8 months having passed since they unleashed the fantastic Natalie, as their debut single, the band have built an ever-burgeoning following in their native Glasgow the back of their instantly infectious releases and outstanding live shows.

The latest milestone in their ascendency comes in the shape of Turn Me Into Juice, a song which encapsulates everything good about the band. Effortlessly managing to be punchy and uplifting and murky and brooding at the same time, the track sees melodic guitar lines intertwine with quirky lyrics, big choruses and a tight, heavy rhythm section – although it clocks in at just over two minutes, it’s the kind of song that seems to have something different to offer with each listen.

A hugely accomplished and confident piece of work, Turn Me Into Juice is a short, sharp and irresistible anthem which cements Voodoos’ status as one of the most exciting acts in Scotland.
