Liverpool favourite’s The Mono LPs graced the Zanzibar with their single launch for their new single “Hell (Save my Soul)”. With tickets sold out, and people queuing at the door, this was going to be a night to remember.
Support acts came from Brass Antelope, Redefine and Arno. All 3 acts brought great atmosphere and helped kick the night off with a bang.
‘Think About It’ opened The Mono’s set with Ste using his usual frontman charm and getting the audience up and dancing from the first note. The sweat may have been dripping off the ceiling in what could only be described as a furnace for a venue, but this didn’t stop the Mono’s absolutely smashing every song they played.
Their new single ‘Hell’ got the room bouncing with the signature cello sound and Ste’s classic 70’s rock vibe. This is a song you won’t just want to listen to once. And with that, this also become their encore. By popular request, classics such as ‘Love and Hate’ and ‘Cherry Red Lips’ came next, with the entire venue singing their hearts out and showing off their moves front of stage.
A much-loved song from The Mono LPs could not be left out from any set, and any fans would know that ‘Emelia’ is a firm favourite of many and finished the night off perfectly (or so we thought). To much to everyone’s ‘surprise’ next up came a clumsy but magical version of ‘Three Lions’ which got everyone singing, hugging and feeling all a bit emotional. Even though it didn’t come home for us, The Mono’s single ‘Hell’ certainly did.
