Just Listen: Swimming Girls – Pray In Silence

Swimming Girls – Pray In Silence

Words: Gary Lambert

Pray in Silence is the most beautiful release from Swimming Girls yet, and that owes a lot to the positioning of the vocals at the top of the mix in order to grant extra emphasis on the heartfelt lyrics.  If I was new to Swimming Girls, I would think that this was a band from Ireland such is the powerful Celtic folk lilt to Vanessa’s singing. In fact, I would go as far to say that this could easily be a song released by The Cranberries.  The contrast between the exclamation of not believing in God, but then asking for the help of the deity digs right into the feels too. It is a beautiful desperation. I love this song. I think you will too.
