Just Watch: Pizzagirl – Body Biology

Pizzagirl – Body Biology

Words: Amy Butcher

As the first released single from his debut album, body biology makes a statement about what we can expect from the Liverpool-based artsy DIY pop artist, Pizzagirl. Opening with upbeat, wondrous guitar riffs, Liam Brown’s poignant vocals ooze onto the track and over enunciating the end of each lyric in such a way, it just works. However it’s the almost ballad-like keyboard and synth bridge that really puts the icing on the cake for me.

With previous Pizzagirl songs, I’ve always felt there has been hidden hints of 80s synth pop in the sounds and this is still present in body biology, yet there’s a fresh indie jangle that creates this groovy pop song. Almost whimsical in some of his lyrics, body biology is a brilliant perspective on the love life of your average shelf stacker.

If you’ve not listened to this track or even heard of Pizzagirl, what are you doing? Start with this song, as it will soon have you converted to loving the musical genius of Pizzagirl
