Just Listen: Red Rum Club – Eleanor

Eleanor

Words by Gary Lambert

For their latest single, Eleanor, the Scouse-sextant Red Rum Club have put the mariachi rock n roll to one side and have created an uplifting, bright piece of guitar pop music.

It took me a good few listens to let Eleanor get into my good books such is the feeling of the unexpected which comes from the less-than-three minutes of gorgeous pop.  It almost sounds like it could come from Clean Cut Kid’s Felt.

Eleanor is another reason to bemoan the lack of festival season right now as the position of Fran’s vocals right up in the mix make it so easy to sing along with.  We all know Red Rum Club are one of the brightest acts around, and their second album at this rate is going to be a boss treat.
