I mean, what can I say about Sports Team that’s not already been said? They’re talented, full of passion and have the guts to fight it out with Lady Gaga for a number one album spot – what can’t they do? Sports Team have been on my radar for quite some time, I remember seeing them live for the first time at their Scala London headline show and have loved their sound since.
Following their debut album ‘Deep Down Happy’, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the London based band in ‘Happy (God’s Own Country) but the 6 piece have done it again! Full of punchy guitar riffs, tight drum beats and Alex Rice’s infamous, impactful vocals; it’s loud, in your face and everything I love about Sports Team.
With a Mercury Prize nomination under their belt, the world is Sports Team’s oyster – they’re a band I envision selling out arenas one day, they’ve got the gusto and loyal fans (myself included) to go far and I can’t wait to see what they’ve got in store for us next.
