FESTIVAL VIBES: KING NO-ONE
King No-One
Words and Photo by Gary Lambert
Undoubtedly King No-One are amongst my favourite festival bands. With on-stage drama, banging tunes, and an approach to lyricism which allows fans to realise they are not alone, King No-One are genuinely an impressive live music act. You are going to love them if you don’t already when you get a ticket for CloseUp Festival. They’re worth every penny of the price of a ticket, so the fact you get a bunch of other bands alongside them is just crazy.
Popped Music: How are King No-One doing?
King No-One: Do you know what. All things considered (and there’s not that much to consider) … Pretty good!
Will you have any new tracks to play at CloseUp Festival?
hehehehehehe. Yes.
If someone hasn’t seen you before, which song will best encapsulate your style?
Roll of the Dice because it’s real social commentary in accepting your own life and doing the best you can with what you’ve been given.
What makes festival season so important to you?
Getting out and visiting lots of different places and seeing so much happiness and good vibes.
What are your favourite memories of festivals?
If you have any memories left of the festivals you’ve visited then something went wrong.
When you’re in the van on tour, who is in charge of the music?
Our van is called Squeaky and she doesn’t have a bluetooth speaker so we just listen to each other breathing.
What is your go-to pre-gig hype song?
We put on a club classic and then make our own different chant up every show. It’s a real delight to hear.
Are you playing any more gigs this year that we should know about?
Oh, you will know about it when it comes. We’re about to start the biggest journey of our lives so far.
