Teen Jesus and The Jean Teasers Words: Elena Katrina
I’m going to put a disclaimer here because, usually, I wouldn’t cover non-UK-based acts because I always want to encourage people to go and see the acts I write about but this really caught me by surprise and I wanted to share anyway. Teen Jesus and The Jean Teasers are going on tour with Foo Fighters in Australia later this year so I’m going to go ahead and assume they will become massive and then who knows where they’ll be playing when they do come back this way. Their DIY aesthetic really appeals, it’s not just this video (I’ve gone ahead and listened to as much as I possibly could on youtube). I’m excited and annoyed all at once – I want to go and see them ASAP and I can’t.
While Teen Jesus and The Jean Teasers will far from be new to some, they’re hardly a household name either. Their latest single “I Used To Be Fun” is energetic, catchy, socially perceptive and smacks of a coming-of-age tale that will be so relatable for many. Their debut album, “I Love You” is out on December 6th and if it’s going to have more of this then I’ll be chasing whoever needs chasing to get it in my ears sooner.
