Festival Review: The Apple Cart Festival

The Apple Cart Festival

Sunday 3rd June, Victoria Park, London.

We love a good weekend festival in London, a day of joy, especially when the weather holds. When it doesn’t, well we don’t love a good festival. No matter how good it is. We went along to check out this years Apple Cart fest as we’d heard great things about it, and from what we saw we can whole heatedly agree that it is pretty damn cool.

It’s difficult to know if the comedy tent was as full as it was for as long as it was because the comedy was amazing or if people were looking for shelter. It was some kind of funny though, laughter was being had, and the hecklers sure did get what they deserved.I like to see a comedy tent full to the brim, so often they’re the ones that don’t attract so much attention.

This is a festival that is family friendly, and we loved seeing parents dancing with their kids whilst the bands played. It was just such a shame that the weather wasn’t holding up. We managed to catch one of our Popped favourites; Marcus Foster. He played a very short and sweet set, half an hour is very short but we enjoyed it none the less and sang along when told do!  We even took the opportunity to have a catch up with him so look out for that on the site shortly.

Victoria Park, where The Apple Cart Festival was held, was busier than I would have thought, obviously there are people much harder than us who are happy to stand freezing cold and wet through all in the name of fun.We escaped to a near by pub to dry off and warm up and although we had planned to head back to catch the Rich Hall Hoedown that sounded awesome, I was somewhat outvoted, by 3 to 1.

I hope the festival organizers aren’t put off from running this again next year, and we hope they’ll forgive us from bailing on them! We will definitely be back again next year, come rain or shine.
