It’s not just the title of You Cannot Call For Love Like A Dog by Australian band Holy Holy that is epic. There’s a real 80s/90s power ballad vibe going on here. Just follow that relentless fast paced drumming, the quick rise and fall as the guitar swirls, driving bass lines, epic choruses you can croon along to and, least I forget to mention, that guitar solo that Slash himself would be proud of. This being said the song doesn’t come off as a pastiche or a throw away piece of retrospective nonsense. Far from it, this track manages, just, to stay in the here and now, production certainly helps, as does vocal style. It’s a damn impressive piece of rock n roll for a debut.
