Just Listen: White – Fight The Feeling

White
Words: Gary Feeney
After releasing three quite brilliant singles last year, you could probably have been forgiven for wondering if White could hit the same heights with their latest offering, Fight The Feeling; if you had any such doubts about this band though, you would have been very wrong indeed.
Bristling with the kind of energy that has became their trademark, Fight The Feeling is a joyous, hands-in-the-air affair, combining guaranteed sing-along choruses which are underpinned by Hamish Fingland’s distinctive, funk-tinged guitars with deliciously sultry, seductive verses reminiscent of fellow Glasgwegian acts like Hipsway and the Associates (there’s inescapable comparisons between the latter’s Billy McKenzie and White’s Leo Condie’s vocal stylings – inescapable, not least because pretty much everything you read about the band seems to draw the comparison!); it’s the kind of song that will instantly be lodged in your head and that is impossible to sit still and listen to from the very first chords.
