Following support slots with the View and Last Shadow Puppets, East Kilbride five-piece The Lapelles with their third single, Grab Life By, and it’s a song which highlights a growing confidence and maturity in the band’s music. Whilst retaining the snap and energy of its predecessors, Grab By Life, is a more nuanced affair; it’s the kind of song in which lots seems to happen in. There’s great lead guitar riffs, reverb-laden parts which lurk in the background but add a real depth to the track and an excellent solo, all underpinning the engaging and evocative vocals of singer and lead guitarist Gary Watson. With only one of the band being over the age of 20, Grab By Life is an exciting taste of what’s to come from The Lapelles.
