In My Mind is for me the sound of The Amazons. Heavy-leaning rock music but without the desire to cause shock, fear or deafness just for the sake of it. The bass work on this track is one of my favourites of 2016, not because I have any technical knowledge, but it reminds me of being young and seeing proper rock bands for the first time and getting that feeling of a doom-filled bassline hitting you in the stomach and bringing a smile to your face.
The contrast between the heavy vocal used for the verses and the high-pitched almost backing vocal used for the chorus element is well constructed and balanced too. Whilst there is contrast, neither voice sounds stressed or unnatural in order to make the contrast sound greater.
