The Ninth Wave’s Soundcloud biography consists of two simple words. Normally, you’d find such a brief description to be a bit frustrating, especially if you’re looking for a some nformation to use when writing something like this to hopefully introduce people to a band, but in this case, the two words are perhaps the most succinct, accurate description you could really hope for.

“Gothic pop” it says on the tin, and Gothic pop is what the hotly-tipped Glaswegian four-piece offer up, as showcased in Change, the lead singlefrom their Only The Young E.P. which was released earlier this year. A musically dark and murky affair with 80’s-style synths looming in the background, this brooding nature is offset by a light, breezy vocal line which is very much in the mould of The Cure’s Robert Smith, Change is the perfect introduction to this talented young quintet, who are preparing to release their double A-side vinyl release of Human Touch and Nothing Is Certain in November.
