Just Listen: Trudy & The Romance – Sandman

Trudy & The Romance

Words: Gary Hughes

trudy and the romanceFollowing on from ‘My Baby’s Gone Away’ Liverpool trio Trudy and The Romance spit out another 3 minutes of twisted, romantic, yearning music.

More linear than their previous track; Sandman still benefits from some nice tempo changes. You can get a good sense of what the band would be like in a live environment. It’s a tight, together sound…..lots of energy and confidence shining through.

I particularly like the vocals, delivered in a sloppy, slightly off beat manner. As if the singer is a bit drunk. It is very effective none the less. There is a cinematic edge to this band. They have big ideas and are confident enough to get these ideas across in their music.
