Just Listen: Catholic Action – Doing Well

Catholic Action

Words: Gary Feeney

catholic actionCatholic Action made quite a splash last year with their singles L.U.V. and Rita Ora, two perfect pieces of infectious indie-pop which garnered widespread critical acclaim as well as an invite to the prestigious SXSW festival a number of other showcase events.

Given the success of those two, it could be said that there was a bit of pressure (of sorts) on the band to maintain the same standards with their current single Doing Well, but from the first listen, it’s clear that the Glaswegian outfit have more than achieved that. Infectious and uplifting from the very first chords, there’s everything you might want from a pop classic here, including a great guitar riff, hand-claps and a chorus which is guaranteed to lodge itself in your head for hours after listening…or more to the point, for hours after you’ve finally managed to take it off of repeat. It’s simply too good a song to listen to only once.
