Just Listen: Eat Fast – Scrambled Egg

Eat Fast

Words: Gary Feeney

Following on from the blistering Public Display of Affection and Sand Drone, Scrambled Egg, the latest single from Eat Fast’s forthcoming EP, is a slightly less frenetic but no less fuzzy affair.

A little more nuanced than the others, the curiously -titled track opens with syncopated drum and bass pattern accompanying singer Adam Pearson’s 60’s-esque vocal melody which adds a psychedelic tinge, before the band’s trademark scuzzy guitars kick in for the choruses. Whilst retaining the energy of its predecessors, Scrambled Egg shows a different side to the Newcastle outfit, blending power, harmonies and melody to create arguably their finest song to date – a fine way to mark their new record deal, and further proof that their EP is on course to be one of the most promising debut releases this year.
