Just Listen: Meadowlark – Postcards

Meadowlark

Words: Leander Hobbs

The raspy yet gentle-sweet vocals of Kate McGill are joined by the light tinkling of piano keys like summer rain from my stereo and I am washed in a hazy and heady musical perfume.

This is Postcards, the first single from Bristol based Meadowlark’s anticipated debut album of the same name, due for release in June. It’s acoustic yumminess at its best – in fact you can even hear the reassuring squeak of the guitar chord changes bringing the performance from the studio directly into your living room.

The duo, known for their captivating melodies and effortless stage presence have once again created a beautiful piece of music that is as rich as it is simple and if this sets the standards for the rest of the album I will be pre-ordering mine today.
