Cape Cub has a wonderful way with words, something he just doesn’t ever seem to fall short on. What he also has, in new track Searchlight, is something quite dark and haunting in his vocal. This track feels more laid bare than some of his other singles such as All I Need and Keep Me In Mind, there’s less electro-pop sensibility and although those are by far two of my favourite Cape Cub tracks, this feels like a mature and well considered step outside of that without loosing his overall sound. Beautiful stuff.
