We’ve been big fans of Heavy Rapids’ distinctive brand of garage rock ever since their first appearance on our pages back in 2016 under their old moniker, The Telermen.
In the months and years since then, the quartet have been steadily developing their style, crafting a sound that combines musical brains and brawn, intricate guitars, powerful drum and bass lines and loads of feedback and reverb coming together in a manner reminiscent of early-era Cribs on steroids, with previous single Crying Shame an example of the band at their most explosive.
The band’s new release, Stuck With, isn’t quite as visceral as its predecessor but is an absolute stormer nonetheless. Opening with a breezy guitar line, Stuck With is Heavy Rapids’ most immediate track so far, bristling with energy from Dillon Squire’s first lines before soaring into huge choruses which promise to be even more electric as part of the band’s thrilling live sets.
A song designed for big stages, Stuck With is a serious statement of intent from one of the most exciting bands in the country.
