Sam Fender - Dead Boys

Newcastle’s very own heartthrob Sam Fender has been making waves on the music scene over the past year, having been named as one of BBC’s Sound of 2018 and racking up over 10,000 likes on his Facebook page.

We’ve been a fan of him for ages, so I was really excited to get his new single ‘Dead Boys’ in my inbox this week and it’s already causing a stir after bagging its first play from Annie Mac’s on BBC Radio One.

When you release singles as good as ‘Leave Fast’ and ‘Play God’ it can be difficult to maintain that same momentum but I’m pleased to say Fender has managed it! Radiating with Ben Howard-style vibes, ‘Dead Boys’ is a lush combination of gorgeous vocals and soaring, vibrant soundscapes.

Starting off relatively mellow with Fender’s echoed words silkily gliding over the minimalist instrumental, it isn’t long before it’s taken up a notch with lively drum patterns and dynamic synths spiralling all over.

Think I’ll have this one on repeat for the next few weeks…
