Just Listen: Sundara Karma – Illusions

Sundara Karma – Illusions

“Wow – who is this!”  – Actual words from my mouth upon my first listen of Sundara Karma’s latest new track, Illusion. I haven’t even finished listening to it yet and already I am in love. One thing I love is when bands have a real musical journey in their careers. It’s one of the reasons The Charlatans are my favourite bands  – find me an album of theirs that sounds like the last one, you can’t. Sundara Karma appears to be moving with their own tide and I’m bloody loving it – more hints of funk and then this… this… VOCAL comes out and it’s a shock…. And it’s incredible. There’s so much swagger and sway and a smattering of shimmer all over the top, 70s basslines and synths. Illusions is a track that breathes, it’s body expanding as it takes in air and shrinking as it exhales.
