Just Listen: Dantevilles – Bloomin’ Flowers

Dantevilles – Bloomin’ Flowers

Words: Gary Lambert

It’s a good thing, a very good thing, when you listen to a track for reviewing purposes and when it finishes you replay it immediately. It’s even better when it takes you four listens before you decide to move on to something else.

This is exactly how I felt with Dantevilles’ latest release ‘Bloomin’ Flowers’. Bombastic and powerful with wonderful echoes of Suede in their mid-nineties pomp, the lads have really gone to town with this track and hit us with a bold mix of swirl and swagger.

Generally we associate Manchester bands with having a good swagger to their sound, but it is to the credit of Dantevilles that they are not hitting that Dark Fruits and Bucket Hats sound of growled, stretched vowels and signposted choruses, but instead have created a piece of music that makes you take it all in rather than shout it out.

This could end up being one of the soundtracks for festival season.
