Just Watch: Swim Deep – To Feel Good

Swim Deep – To Feel Good

I’m a big fan of Swim Deep and have been for what feels like forever now. Despite their silence for the past four years, I would still play their hazy tunes from King City to Honey regularly for those summery vibes. When I first received this track, I will admit that I sat on it for a little while – it’s much more complex than their previous work and it deserved to be digested in the comfort of my headphones rather than being screamed in the middle of Snobs (if you know, you know).

To Feel Good is a huge jump away from what we are used to from the now five-piece Swim Deep, opening on exposed gospel vocals from Margate’s Social Singing choir and an introduction to a spoken-word masterpiece from frontman Austin. Addressing their journey to date, which has been a rollercoaster of emotions, pressures and struggle, To Feel Good is a gorgeous reminder to get back up and keep going.

An emotional-fuelled video (which had me choked) to complement sweet melodies, angelic vocals from the choir and frank lyrics from Austin, To Feel Good might not be your usual dreamy psych-pop from Swim Deep but it exposes a maturer sound that is honestly stunning. Well done lads.
