Just Listen: MarthaGunn – Heaven

MarthaGunn – Heaven

Words by Amy Butcher

MarthaGunn HeavenEver since I saw MarthaGunn at Bushstock festival this summer, I’ve been obsessed with the way they bring together old school 70s rock and fresh, modern melodies to create a truly fantastic sound. When announcing their new single ‘Heaven’, I couldn’t wait to listen – it’s another groove filled rock number and I can’t get enough.

Opening with gutsy guitar riffs, soft repetitive drum patterns and singer Abi’s transcendent vocals, as a listener you’re thrown into a nostalgic old school rock ‘n’ roll experience. Instantly, you’ll find yourself nodding your head, tapping your foot, and struggling to not burst out into song with the catchy hook in the chorus ‘Is heaven gonna wait, is heaven gonna wait tonight’.

Following a successful run of shows across the UK and the release of previous single Honey, Let Me Know, it’s been a brilliant year for MarthaGunn and if this single is anything to go by, the only way is up for this band!
