Just Listen: Lauren Hibberd – Sweat Patch

Lauren Hibberd – Sweat Patch

Words: Ashleigh O’Neill

Indie pop queen Lauran Hibberd, returns swiftly after the success of her recent EP release ‘Everything is Dogs’ with her new single ‘Sweat Patch’. The heavy guitar riffs and catchy lyrics, hinting towards the topic of drugs, are no surprise, considering the taboo topics she has covered in her lyrics prior to this release. Despite the subject of the track, she does not make out that drugs are ‘cool’, in fact, more so that she has found herself in a place to discuss where she finds herself in the world and how she often feels out of place in a room of people and the analysis of them doing drugs whilst she is not. Her innocent sound contrasts nicely to the meaningful lyrics she sings. The track seems very strong and self-assured, demonstrating that she really seems to have found her own sense of sound, this is why she is deserving of her spot as one to watch! You can catch her on her UK tour next February, it is definitely not one to miss!
