Coming Up Short

It has officially started. The build up to Bloxx‘s debut album begins with the release of Coming Up Short. Like everything else Bloxx have released it’s an absolute banger, but this is a slight change from the quiet-LOUD-quiet-LOUDER format that Bloxx have had us fall in love with from the start.

With Fee’s voice more prominent than ever before and vocal effects added perfectly, this feels very much a song for today made today.  Do not think though that Bloxx have suddenly become delicate and genteel.  No chance.  Instead the wild, sharp guitar play of Taz acts as the foundation like sedimentary rock coloured by Jackson Pollock contrasting with Paul Rau’s clean, chilled out bass work.  This is the sound of a Saturday night in the bars of any city sculpted by Bloxx.

And to think we’re getting an album of this soon enough…
