Hey Boy (You’re One of Us)

Words by Gary Lambert

Oh my! They have done it once more!  Walt Disco’s latest musical collage of theatricality, camp, aggression, and rock n roll, Hey Boy (You’re One of Us) is even more ambitious for me than the wonderful Cut Your Hair, yet still comes in under the three minute mark.

From the choirboy-bedroom indie opening segues into pure stomping glam rock to the off-kilter fairground noises mixed with The Flower Duet from Lakme finale, Hey Boy (You’re One of Us) showcases the confusing, confident, expressive magic that makes Walt Disco one of the greatest hopes the British music scene has.

It’s a wild ride being a fan of Walt Disco.  They don’t release songs for playing in the background, you need to pay attention otherwise you’ll get lost in the sounds.

Walt Disco‘s debut 12-inch EP Young, Hard and Handsome is available for pre-order with Blood Records.
