Just Listen: Tash – Dead

Tash – Dead
Words: Elena Katrina

Like something from a modern horror movie, the last way single, “Dead“, by Tash (the musical project of Tara Nobel) has a haunting feel. Although it hardly creeps up on you, rather than smothers then bludgeons you. Tash’s vocals have more of a pop sensibility to their tone and the juxtaposition against the metal band makes this vibe feel a whole new level of interesting, especially given that, on the whole, I’m not into metal. There is also a dance vibe going on here – I’m thinking Prodigy, Pendulum et al.

There’s such a great melody to “Dead‘ too, it’s so catchy and I love the overall production, it’s razorblade sharp but I have a keen instinct that this track would be dirty and pack a real punch when performed live. I bet Nova Twins would do a ridiculously scuzzy remix of this, especially if they pick out that beautiful bass.

Tash has a handful of tracks available on Spotify, with Dead having been leashed onto the world only last Friday. It’s well worth getting to grips with the other material too because I have a feeling that this is an artist that has a lot of road ahead.
