Just Listen: She’s In Parties – Summer Haze

She’s In Parties – Summer Haze
Words: Elena Katrina

There is something to be said for the understated, sometimes it becomes sublime and She’s In Parties’ “Summer Haze” about hits the nail on the head with that for me. It’s a song that is, on first listen, somewhat unassuming, but beware as therein lurks a hidden danger, it’s called the repeat button and after the first listen you’ll hit it.

Summer Haze” carries with it a nod to some of the best 90s shoegaze, a smattering of 80s synth with a more modern melody that could give the best Blossoms tune a run for its money. The dreamy softness of the vocal, light as a feather – not asking for attention but simultaneously demanding it, while you fall ever slowly under its spell. Then ending on a simple pure piano solo that is playing those same notes that the synth’s been in charge of since the start- smart but classic pop. Do I really need to turn it off and listen to something else now?
