Just Listen: Eliza Shaddad – Wars

Eliza Shaddad

Listen to Wars here:

eliza shaddadStraight off the bat Eliza Shaddad had won me over with her new single Wars. There’s a real bitter-sweet beauty to it. Musically, to listen to  it, it crawls up my back and tickles my neck so to make my hair stand on end with those magnificent guitar swirls which just build and build, weaving their magic around me. Then the vocals, so emotional and sincere, let alone the lyrics which are so pertinent to so many aspects of life. There’s an eerie calm in it all, but just enough frustration manages to creep though. I love the muffled production on the drums that allow them to finally break the seal and break through, an angry attack that really pushes the track along at a faster pace than you might be used to for Miss Shaddad. Just a great great track. I feel excited to see what is now to come from this very talented young lady.

Wars is taken from the forthcoming EP, Run, which comes out on Beatnik early 2016.
