Just Listen: Holy Holy – Darwinism
Holy Holy
Words: James Booton

After returning to the studio to release a new track less than year after their debut album, you could be forgiven for presuming Holy Holy had become greedy for success or perhaps that they were being pressured into new releases by their label. However, this is not the case. The Australian four piece have released this new track simply because they have got more to give and they have not let the standards drop one bit on the new single Darwinism.
The single is a track full of clever off beat drumming and an extremely satisfying rock riff which really make the song, however the key component is the certain level of swagger in Timothy Caroll’s lyrical delivery. His uncommon, relaxed style complements the track well, creating a slightly melancholy, slightly aggravated tone which gradually builds, becoming more aggressive. The track then explodes into a fast pace, sound mash up, with Caroll singing even more passionately but still with his melancholy swagger. With this new single, Holy Holy continue to improve, developing their sound to have even more of an edge, and creating a lot of buzz around the question of a new album.
